CAFE TAMAHERE
the concept:
Distinctive angles and playful surprises
Mixture Tamahere Café, located just off the prestigious Tamahere Country Club in the Waikato is the second site for this popular brunch spot. Mixture Tamahere presented a unique opportunity to create a visually striking yet functional hospitality space.
Striking architecture with contrasting materials and distinctive angles created inspiration for the interiors within the cafe. Warm, inviting and comfortable Mixture Tamahere is designed to offer a welcoming and vibrant environment. Sunlight floods the space, enhancing the natural materials and soft colour palette. The interior feels both spacious and relaxed, inviting guests to take a moment and enjoy their surroundings. Bespoke features throughout the café add a touch of sophistication and playfulness, with the dried flower wall being a notable example.
Take a seat at Mixture Tamahere, and you'll experience a space that is drenched in sunlight, brimming with natural beauty, and thoughtfully designed to create a harmonious and inviting ambiance.
the outcomes:
Angles at play
Architectural Angles: The café's architecture features distinctive angles and high ceilings. We emphasised these elements using timber acoustic panels with black steel suspended frame, which not only reduce noise but also draw attention to the architectural lines.
Bespoke Lighting Feature: Positioned above the cafe servery, custom lights were commissioned to reflect the angular theme of the architecture and create a focal point without dominating the interior.
Celosia Brick Tile: This stunning hand made brick from Patricia Urquiola was chosen with the subtle detailing reflecting the angles in a naturally fluid form within the building.
Dried Flower Wall: This beautiful installation softens the space and introduces a natural element, creating a balanced and inviting atmosphere.
Printed Acoustic Panels: With noise being a common complaint in many hospitality spaces, a patterned acoustic panel was used with a marbled look for installation across two main wall spaces within the cafe. Tones of soft pinks and neutral greys combine to create a stunning and functional wall lining.
